Старомодный туристский междугородный автобус. Сейчас это слово употребляют только пожилые люди, вспоминая старые автобусы с жёсткими сиденьями, в которых детьми они летом ездили на берег моря. От французского char à banc (карета со скамейками).

The charabancs have all turned into coaches with every modern conveniences. — Все старые экскурсионные автобусы превратились в современные автобусы со всеми удобствами.
